This topic describes the new features, enhancements, and resolved issues for Hubble v24.3, released in October 2024.
New Features
The new features for the 24.3 release are follows:
| Jira Reference | Description |
|---|---|
Desktop Feature: Enhanced Logging Management |
Building on the improvements introduced in the version 24.2, the logging management capabilities have been further extended. Hubble now offers an even more robust audit and log management system. However, it was noticed that these powerful features were often overlooked due to nondescriptive names. To address this, the focus was on enhancements that not only improve the functionality but also boost user adoption and engagement. Following are the key improvement areas:
|
Web Feature: Updated User Interface for Distributions |
In our ongoing commitment to enhancing user experience, the user interface for the Distributions feature in Hubble Web has been modernized. Note: This update currently permits users to view only existing or previously created distributions. The main advantage of this update is the improved clarity in displaying the distribution status. In the previous design, the status of a distribution (whether started, failed, paused, completed, or not started) was not clearly indicated to the user. The new design aims to display these statuses promptly and clearly, using a clean design approach. For the creation of new distributions, the old user interface can still be fully utilized by users. Further developments on this feature will be carried out in the coming quarter. |
Feature Enhancements
This chapter covers the improvements made based on customer requests and technical upgrades.
Customer Requested Enhancements
| Title | Description |
|---|---|
Consistent Folder Navigation Across Sessions |
With this enhancement, users are taken back to their last accessed folder or location during a Web session, when they navigate back to the folder structure. This change aligns the behavior with the Desktop interface. However, this functionality is available within the session only. Once the user logs out and logs back in, they start at the Documents parent node, |
Authentication Upgrade in Hubble |
An option has been introduced in this release to improve the security of the authentication process. With this enhancement, a salted hash is transmitted during the authentication process instead of the user’s actual password. This change significantly enhances the security and confidentiality of user data. |
Enhanced Security for Data Transmission |
In this release, all sensitive data transmitted over HTTPS now uses cookies with a secure flag. Additionally, session tokens, if used, are handled separately in HTTPS areas and are never sent over unencrypted connections, ensuring enhanced security and reliability. |
Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) Protection Enhancement |
In this release, security has been enhanced by the use of CSRF tokens in user-performed functions such as login/logout and field updates. These tokens, unpredictable in nature, protect against CSRF attacks. Despite the high complexity of these attacks and their limitation to the logout function, their severity is lower than typical CSRF attacks, thereby improving the application’s resilience. This enhancement has been implemented for both Hubble Web and GWT. |
JavaScript Libraries Update |
The issue of “Out of date JavaScript libraries” has been addressed in this release. The JavaScript libraries used in the application have been updated to their latest versions. |

Upgrading Information: Repository
If you are upgrading from any version of Hubble, please note that version 24.3 requires a new license key. You will need to obtain a new License Key from Customer Support. Once this is received, please perform a replace in order to retain your License Assignments.
Prior to upgrading, be sure your Object Repository is backed up. Backups are done automatically. For details, refer to Chapter 4 of the Hubble Suite Supplementary Deployment Topics guide.

Other General Notes
- Budgeting Forms, Designer Express reports and Standard Templates created using Designer Express are currently only supported on SQL Server, Vector DB for Accelerator, Oracle, and AS/ 400 DB2 databases.
- Any Virtual Views created will only work on the DB type in which they were designed to be used.
- E.g. A Oracle Virtual View can only work on an Oracle DB.
- Prior to installing Hubble, refer to the Minimum Technical Requirements documents to ensure that you meet the minimum system requirements.
Technical Considerations
Note: These Technical Considerations are applicable to customers moving from 2016 to 24.2. They are not applicable to customers moving from 18.x or 19.x versions to 24.2.
Docker support for Version 17.06 or later
The Docker version requirement (Community Edition or Enterprise Edition) has been changed to version 17.06 or later.
PDF On-Premise
A new version of the PDF Engine has been developed to be installed directly on the customers environment, removing the need to access one of the PDF engines currently held in the Cloud. SaaS based customers will have the on-premise version directly installed to their individual environment. This will be an additional deployment step/setup as part of the upgrade.
Accelerator Firmware
If Hubble Accelerator is used, a version greater than 2.2.1 should be installed.
VPN vs no-VPN
From 2018.0, it will be mandatory that Customers are migrated from the 'VPN' method to the 'no-VPN' method. For customers who also have a direct always open VPN connection to InsightSoftware as part of their installation, this will be disabled as part of moving to the new deployment method. Customers still have the option of requesting Insight to perform the upgrades for them, but this must be done via a VPN activated by the customer.
